POY Production Process
Raw Material Preparation & Melt Transfer
Polymer chips (PET or PA6) are dried and melted inside the extruder to form a uniform polymer flow. Temperature and pressure are precisely controlled to maintain melt stability and viscosity consistency. The molten polymer is then transferred smoothly to the spinning system, laying the foundation for stable filament formation.
Fiber Spinning & Quenching
The molten polymer is extruded through spinnerets to create continuous filaments at high speed. Immediately after spinning, controlled airflow quenches the filaments to solidify their structure and regulate crystallization. This step determines basic filament uniformity and initial molecular orientation.
Oil Coating & Stretching
A spin finish is applied to reduce friction and static while protecting fiber surfaces. The yarn is then stretched to introduce partial molecular orientation, creating the characteristic structure of POY. This controlled drawing balances strength and elongation for downstream texturing.
Network Control & Winding
Filaments pass through a network system to stabilize tension and alignment before winding. High-precision automatic winders form consistent POY packages with controlled density and hardness. The finished yarn packages are ready for DTY, FDY, or further textile processing.
